La recherche doctorale d’Iva Radivojević est centrée sur l’idée que l’état d’exil a la structure d’un rêve. Il s’agit d’une rumination sur la dislocation, la nostalgie et la mémoire et sur la manière dont elles correspondent à la narrativité ou à la narration non linéaire. La recherche explore la manière dont cet espace liminal, en dehors des structures sociales normatives, se reflète dans le langage cinématographique – en particulier les structures cinématographiques qui défient les notions prescrites de l’arc narratif.
Dans le cadre de sa thèse, Iva réalise un film intitulé When The Phone Rang.
À travers la reconstitution intime d’un appel téléphonique important, When The Phone Rang étudie la dislocation et la nature du souvenir. Dans l’esprit de la protagoniste, âgée de onze ans, cet appel téléphonique efface tout son pays, son histoire et son identité et cache son existence dans les livres, les films et les souvenirs de ceux qui sont nés avant 1995.

Biographie
Iva Radivojevic est une artiste et une réalisatrice qui partage son temps entre Athènes et Lesbos. Les films d’Iva ont été projetés au New York Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, Rotterdam IFF, Locarno FF, Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, Jeonju IFF, Museum of Modern Art (NYC), Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art. Avenue of The Living, son nouveau livre, a récemment été publié par Big Black Mountain Press. Elle est doctorante à la Villa Arson à Nice.

Iva Radivojević’s doctoral research focuses on the idea that the state of exile has the structure of a dream. It is a rumination on dislocation, nostalgia and memory and how they correspond to narrativity or non-linear storytelling. The research explores how this liminal space, outside of normative social structures, is reflected in cinematic language – in particular cinematic structures that defy prescribed notions of the narrative arc.
As part of her thesis, Iva is making a film entitled When The Phone Rang. Through an intimate reconstruction of an important phone call, When The Phone Rang investigates dislocation and the nature of remembering. In the protagonist’s eleven year old mind this phone call erases her entire country, history and identity and hides its existence in books, films and memories of those born before 1995.

Biography
Iva Radivojevic is an artist and filmmaker who currently divides her time between Athens and Lesbos. Iva’s films have screened at the New York Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, Rotterdam IFF, Locarno FF, Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, Jeonju IFF, Museum of Modern Art (NYC), Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art. Avenue of The Living, her new book was recently published by Big Black Mountain Press. She’s a PhD candidate at Villa Arson in Nice.
