Charles Guerlain and Marion Saxod, laureates of the 2024 Matière(s) Grant from the Verrecchia Endowment Fund, will be hosted at Villa Arson from September 23 to December 20, 2024 as part of a new residency dedicated to freestone.
Charles Guerlain is a landscape gardener and Marion Saxod is a designer. Together, they founded nysaedition, a design research workshop-laboratory in which they create unique gardens, scenography and, above all, pieces for the garden.
The meeting of these two complementary backgrounds, one deeply rooted in the earth and plants and the other in space, composition and technicality, has given life to multiple works and manufacturing processes, with scent and perfume as their starting point. nysaedition will explore the porous and absorbent properties of stone in the form of installations and furniture, as part of an olfactory project around the Villa Arson garden.
Marion and Charles will benefit from a program of acculturation to stonework through workshops, visits and encounters, with the participation of Villa Arson students.
This residency is made possible thanks to a partnership between Villa Arson and the Verrecchia Endowment Fund.
