Publication of Bruno Pélassy’s Monograph

First Title in the “PasSage” Collection

On the Occasion of Villa Arson Publishing House’s 40th Anniversary (1984-2024)

Villa Arson co-publishes, with Mousse Publishing, Haus der Waldsee and Air de Paris, the first monograph dedicated to the artist Bruno Pélassy (1966-2002) bringing together personal archives, works, exhibition views and unpublished texts by Marie Canet, art critic and exhibition curator who teaches aesthetics at Villa Arson, art critic Laura Cottingham and editor Baptiste Pinteaux. This work marks the first title in the “PasSage” collection dedicated to producing monographs of artists whose work and presence have left a significant mark at Villa Arson. The launch of this collection marks the 40th anniversary of Villa Arson publishing house (1984-2024).

40 Years of Publishing at Villa Arson

In 1984, Villa Arson created its own publishing house in close connection with the art center’s exhibitions, the residency program, training, and research. Since its creation, Villa Arson has published over 200 titles in collaboration with numerous French and international publishing houses.

To mark its fortieth anniversary, Villa Arson is launching in 2024 the “PasSage” collection dedicated to producing monographs of artists whose work and presence have left a significant mark at Villa Arson.

Created in 2024 by Alice Dusapin, the new head of Villa Arson’s publishing department, this collection focuses on the periphery of the exhibition program to remind us that the works of these visitors shine beyond what we believe to be “the moment” and contribute to Villa Arson’s influence.

This is certainly the case for Bruno Pélassy, whose legacy is still very much alive in this new generation of artists. His relationship with Nice is also significant, as he spent a large part of his life there. His monograph therefore naturally marks the first title in this collection.
