Artiste plasticien, Nicola Di Giorgio est le premier lauréat de la résidence Nouveau Grand Tour à la Villa Arson. Il est accueilli du 8 janvier au 6 avril 2024 avec le soutien de l’Institut Culturel Italien de Paris.
Nicola Di Giorgio (Palerme, 1994) vit et travaille entre Milan et Palerme. Après avoir obtenu un diplôme académique en design graphique en 2019 à l’Académie des Beaux-Arts de Palerme, il achève en 2022 des études en photographie à l’ISIA Urbino (Institut supérieur des industries artistiques).
Entre 2018 et 2019, avec le projet “Espace Indéfini. Identité d’un lieu”, il entame une observation du paysage urbain en relation avec la société publique et privée, dépassant les limites des habitations. Parallèlement, il entreprend une étude théorique sur l’origine et l’évolution du terme paysage et sa relation avec la photographie.
Entre 2020 et 2023, il réalise des projets tels que 1000008988 et Calcestruzzo. A travers ce dernier, il s’intéresse à la corrélation entre l’art et la science, la conscience et l’inconscience, l’image et l’écriture. Parallèlement à ces méthodologies, il intègre la collecte et l’utilisation d’archives en tant que pratiques de recherche artistique et taxonomique.
En 2022, il reçoit le Prix Graziadei de Photographie (8e édition), en collaboration avec le MAXXI – Musée national des arts du XXIe siècle à Rome. La même année, il est finaliste de la 11e édition du prix Francesco Fabbri pour les arts contemporains.
De 2021 à 2023, il travaille comme studio manager pour Francesco Jodice et, en 2023, comme co-enseignant dans le Master en arts visuels et études curatoriales dirigé par Marco Scotini à la NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti à Milan.
En 2023, sa recherche est sélectionnée par CAMERA – Centre Italien pour la Photographie de Turin pour le programme European Futures Photography.
Ses œuvres font partie de plusieurs collections publiques et privées.

Visual artist Nicola Di Giorgio is the first laureate of the New Grand Tour residency at Villa Arson. He is in residence from January 8 to April 6, 2024 with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris.
Nicola Di Giorgio (Palermo, 1994) lives and works between Milan and Palermo. After completing a first-level Academic Diploma in Graphic Design in 2019 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, he concluded his studies in Photography at ISIA Urbino in 2022.
Between 2018 and 2019, with the project “Undefined Space. Identity of a place”, he began an observation of the urban landscape in relation to public and private society, going beyond the boundaries of dwellings. At the same time, he undertook a theoretical study of the origin and evolution of the term landscape and its relationship with photography.
Between 2020 and 2023, he realized projects such as 1000008988 and Calcestruzzo. In the latter, he deduced the correlation between art and science, consciousness and unconsciousness, image, and writing. Alongside these methodologies, he incorporated collecting and the use of archives as artistic and taxonomic research practices.
In 2022, he received the Graziadei Photography Award (8th edition), in collaboration with MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome. The same year, he was a finalist in the 11th edition of the Francesco Fabbri Prize for Contemporary Arts. From 2021 to 2023, he worked as a studio manager for Francesco Jodice and, in 2023, as a co-teacher in the Master’s Degree in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies directed by Marco Scotini at NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan.
In 2023 his research was selected by CAMERA – Italian Center for Photography in Turin for the European Futures Photography programme.
His works are part of several public and private collections.
