Join the outreach team

La Doublure, exhibition at Villa Arson, 2017

For each exhibition, the visitors’ services department recruits a team of students interested in helping to facilitate exhibitions and participating in artistic and cultural education projects.

This might mean students who are interested in welcoming, informing and interacting with different audiences (i.e., meeting individual members of the public and guiding exhibitions at the art center); or it might mean those who are keen to devise and lead a “rendez-vous point de vue”, or guided tour, based on a subjective selection of artworks, which are set into context with the stakes of the exhibition project and their own spheres of interest. The aim is to avoid offering a “greatest hits” of what the curators and artists have said, and instead to give your own singular, embodied take on an exhibition.

Another option is helping to design and guide visits and/or workshops for school groups, community education associations, social integration associations, the medico-educational sector, young audiences during school holidays, or various equal opportunities programs.

The chance to join the outreach team is open to students who are motivated by collaborative practices and experimentation, which is to say they’re passionate about escaping from the norm and innovating!

Outreach volunteers benefit from training led by the visitor services’ department and exclusive meetings with artists and exhibition curators. Often, in collaboration with those artists, volunteers are needed to create and implement exhibition-specific visitor initiatives.
