“1+1=1 & 1+1=2” Performances by MazelFreten

On Thursday, March 2, 2026, at 12 p.m., two performances by the dance company MazelFreten will take place at Villa Arson, in collaboration with Unica Culture. 

Since their appearance at the Campus Carlone in 2021, MazelFreten has come a long way. From performances at Chaillot to the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, the company has graced the most prestigious stages. They are now returning to our campuses for intimate performances led by choreographers and dancers Laura Defretin and Brandon Masele.

1+1=1  

1+1=1 stems from an instinctive need to explore intimacy—to find oneself again after the nine-month journey and the birth of a child. Where do I stand in my search for identity as an individual distinct from the other? What is my place now in this symbiotic relationship? How can I reclaim my own body? How can I relearn to exist by myself? These are the questions Laura explores throughout this solo.

This solo is an act of love for his children, a tribute to his roots, and an affirmation of his dual cultural identity. Through every graceful movement, he celebrates the richness of his two worlds and passes this heritage on to those dearest to him with passion and determination.
