POROUS Festival Day 2: PERFORMANCES, CONVERSATIONS, SCREENINGS AND ARTISTIC INSTALLATIONS

Can ports — once gateways of exchange — be reimagined as porous spaces for inter-species cohabitation? POROUS invites artists, scientists, technologists, and citizens to collectively explore this question through immersive experiences, discursive conversations, and creative experiments.

Sediment Lab / Marine Sediment-Based Paint from Koper Bay (Slovenia)

Participants will discover the benthic ecosystems of the Adriatic and the microorganisms that shape marine sediments, including bioclastic fragments — remnants of shells and skeletons. Using this unique material, we will create our own shades of marine sediment-based paint, using techniques inspired by traditional, natural, and non-toxic earth and clay-based paints that have been used for millennia in architecture and decoration across cultures.

Hypercomf

Hypercomf is a multidisciplinary speculative design identity, founded in 2017 and based on “the island of Tinos, Greece. Its practice explores the connections between nature and culture, domestication, industry, and science, promoting community and interdisciplinary collaboration. Working with production methods that often include a diversity of organic and inorganic actors, Hypercomf builds dynamic narratives manifesting as installations, contemporary feasts,” multimedia works, and eco-responsible prototypes. Its founders are artists Paola Palavidi and Ioannis Koliopoulos.
