Summer School of Art Practices Day 1

From July 8 to 12, 2025, the Villa Arson Art Center invites teenagers and adults to participate in the summer school of art practices Underwater Constellation. Proposed by artist Gil Lekh, this summer school is designed as a space-time for learning, creating, and sharing in resonance with the exhibition Becoming Ocean: a social conversation about the Ocean. Entirely free, this event is accessible upon registration.
Program
Day 1 — Tracing constellations, imagining archipelagos
In resonance with the work Tales of Cigua – Diana Policarpo from the exhibition Becoming Ocean
Using marine and celestial maps, we will explore how our thoughts, affinities, and stories can be mapped differently: in constellations, archipelagos, and drifts. This workshop invites us to break the linearity of thought, to be attentive to lines of flight, to crossroads, to think about the waters and currents that connect islands.
Physical practice: Attention to space and surroundings; disorienting our perception. Exercises in spatial orientation.
Workshop: Contemporary drawing.
We will create sensitive heuristic maps by breaking down the boundaries of drawing, in a journey through various historical and contemporary techniques.
Practical Information
Free upon registration from age 14 (registration form below)
No prerequisites to “register. Vulnerable individuals are welcome (we will ensure that the reception conditions are adapted).”
After registration, the artist will contact the participants to prepare for the workshops.
